This summer, ANAPA and ADN
organized between the 25th and 27th of June, the
II Naturist Encounter of Asturias, at the “Playa
de Otur” Campsite, next to the beach of
the same name located in the West of Asturias.
It was the first time that I had decided to
contact a naturist group and I planned to do
so by taking part in a naturist activity like
this.
I have to say that I enjoyed myself enormously,
because it was very pleasant and the group was
very welcoming. Of course NATURAL like life
itself.
On the campsite, in spite of it not being “naturist”
we were received and treated with a great deal
of courtesy and kindness. It is a small campsite,
of some 330 places with an abundant grove that
makes it encircling and welcoming. The owner
told us that she was a naturists, she reserved
us a somewhat remote area, so that we felt comfortable,
near to the toilets, surprisingly we only used
the one that had the symbol for "gentleman"
which is the one that was closer at hand.
The first day was splendid, and after settling
in, we went to Otur beach to enjoy the sun and
the sea breeze of the Cantabrian, and naturally,
its temperate waters. Like this we disconnected
at once from the bustle of the city and we forgot
the time. We met for dinner at a hotel near
the campsite, where they told us that there
was a typical Asturian Local festivity in a
nearby town. Without hesitating for a moment
we all went there. It was a perfect end to the
day with Asturian cider, dance and fun .

The following day, Saturday,
we went to visit the famous “Playa de Barayo”,
pioneer in naturism in Asturias. The road that
we took to arrive there, after leaving the cars
in the car park in the village of Vigo (Asturias),
since you cannot arrive to the beach by car, as
it is a protected natural place, without a doubt
it was worthwhile. The road took us along a place
of extraordinary natural beauty, with leafy vegetation,
high grass, skirting the River Barayo that flows
onto the beach making a meander, which made us
fuse our body and thoughts with the exuberant
nature that we contemplated. We enjoyed the splendid
beach that was to be found at low tide. We shared
the food in comradeship, and after a nap, it was
time for the body painting session that we had
all been waiting for. Live art and fantasy to
which several strangers who were near us joined
in, with the star participation of an Australian
girl “Nina”, with a lot of imagination.
At night a visit and dinner in the typical Asturian
fishing village of Luarca, where we tasted the
rich Asturian gastronomy washed down with natural
cider (or was it naturist?).
On Sunday (last day of the encounter) dawn broke
a little cloudy, but even so we went to visit
the Playón de Vayas, the most extensive
beach in Asturias, and we enjoyed the marine spectacle.
On seeing this beach and knowing that on the following
Tuesday there would be a Caribbean party on the
same beach, many of the participants in the encounter
stayed in Asturias to take part in it. Indeed
the weather improved and on Tuesday we were able
to return to this large beach to enjoy the bathing
and the sun, and of course the Caribbean party,
with meringue music and drinking Dominican Republic
rum, that Christi livened up (the Dominican Republic’s
signing in ANAPA) taking us to dance and teaching
the basic steps to those who didn't know and delighting
us with her charm. As was to be expected on this
occasion curious people came closer to take part
in the party, who were welcome and I believe that
they are all thinking of becoming members like
I did.
In short, some wonderful days, in natural, simple,
cheerful and kind people's company, which is always
enjoyable, and a sensation of freedom, of expansion,
of companionship and of disconnection from the
daily bustle for which I encourage and invite
all naturists to take part in the next encounters.
