We left the Port
of Barcelona with three of my children, two
of which would marry at high sea with all
the passengers and crew onboard.
The wedding preparation went beautifully and
friends helped out ‘dressing’
and ‘hairdressing’ the brides.
All was done with the help of a hairdresser
male friend and other marvellous female friends.
We kicked the grooms out of the
cabins as they are not supposed to see their
brides and instead they went to the different
bars onboard to have their last bachelors’
party. I had designed the
bunch of flowers which the brides carried,
the flowers they wore on their heads and veils
that covered their faces. Everything as it
was expected. The grooms only wore bow-ties
and the four were barefooted.
The ship’s disco was the venue and everybody
was welcome as long as they were in the nude.
I, the mother, led the grooms and my husband
the brides. Two friends were the bridesmaids
and also helped carrying the veils.
We got goose pimples as we walked in and the
wedding march began. It was a very moving
moment. Yoannis Natarakis,
the captain of the ship, was a bit confused
as my daughter and my daughter in law are
both called Susana. He was about to marry
brother and sister! He was very pleasant,
though. |

After marrying, they kissed
to no end and an artist on board sang a very nice
song. There was rice throwing and a waltz, as
it should be. Unfortunately, the rice on the floor
and their being barefooted did not go too well!
Later, we went on deck to breathe
fresh air in a gesture of freedom and happiness.
On the way to Sardinia, we mused on the fact of
being the first nudist couples to marry at high
sea.
In the evening, the captain led the
presentation ceremony, wedding-picture included.
However, we had to dress up for this occasion.
The wedding march started again as
we walked into the dining-hall and everybody clapped.
We sat at a especially reserved table and there
were cava bottles, (courtesy of the ship), and
a big heart with two doves on top. All the members
of the crew behaved just great.
This was an unforgettable cruise,
to be with us for the rest of our lives. The people
we met and those we were already friends of, were
our big family and we thank them from the bottom
of our hearts for the love they showed us. And
also thanks for having shared with us this precious
time.
