28th INF World Congress in Cypress Cove/Florida

.

Cor van Herp (NFN – Netherlands) became new INF treasurer; Charles Obergfell (FFN – France) was elected new INF vice-president and a new budget could be worked out in Florida.

Already in the time before the congress there had been considerable disruptions in the French federation (FFN): FFN president Philippe Cardin had lost the confidence of his colleagues in the FFN board and had been deprived of power; vice president Michel Begue took over his tasks. Without further ado the FFN also cancelled their proposal for the INF elections; instead of Cardin they nominated the Alsation Charles Obergfell as the candidature for the position of the INF vice president. And also Cardin's friend Christian Glatigny (being also one of the FFN vice-presidents) was punished: The FFN withdrew their order for him to be the representative of France at the INF World Congress. The reason for that was Cardin's and Glatigny's behaviour concerning the discussions with quite a number of French holiday centres.

INF president Wolfgang Weinreich said good-bye to the INF treasurer Konrad Brönnimann (UNS-SNU / Switzerland). The previous auditor Cor van Herp (NL) worked out a new budget together with a group of delegates, including also Konrad Brönnimann – and only the German delegation did not agree to this new budget.

New ways to finance naturist federations – of course also the INF – have been in the focus of a lecture given by the American delegate George Volak. For the future Volak requested to have courage, to be open and ready to accept new ways. He said that closed entrance doors of naturist centres would not result in any new members and being anxious always means to be a bad advisor.

Sport and youth events have been discussed by the congress delegates; as before they are still considered as the mainstays of naturist life which need everybody's support.

Then the elections at the end of the congress have been most conciliatory: The long-term president of the Legal Commission, Dr. Hans Joerg Landolt retired from his position at the age of 76. The INF president Weinreich could decorate Dr. Landolt with the Golden Needle of Honour of the INF.

The new president of the INF Legal Commission is the Dutchman René Nijhof. The committee members for public relations in Europe: Mick Ayers (GB), sports: Roger Viola (F) and youth: Sieglinde Ivo (A) have been re-elected unanimously. Most probably the next INF World Congress 2004 will take place in Istria.
