We would like to offer you a little round-up of information, the   background  and objectives of the association plus offer you some of the advantages of  being a member of our Association.

In the first half of the 1960s, the first nudists who went to Torn Beach to sunbathe had to do so carefully to avoid problems with the authorities. In the second half of the 1970s the number of nude bathers using Torn beach increased greatly with the arrival of democracy, It wasn’t, however, until the 1980s and 1990s that nude bathing became really popular. Since the 1990s Torn Beach is now known as one of the best nudist beaches in Europe.

The Association of the Friends of Torn Beach was formed like other associations to defend principles. In our case it was an administration adverse to nudism. Also the owner of the surrounding land near the beach had created a lot of obstacles. All this happened in 1988, and as a result of this a small group of naturalist families got together and decided to form an association.

In May 1989 the statutes were legalised. From then on we have done our best possible to defend the interests of the beaches: Its surrounding areas and its users.

Over the years a lot of things have changed. The old administration, once reluctant, has opened its doors to defend and promote naturalism. The owner of the surrounding land, who before put up obstacles, has built a nudist camp-site.

In 1991 The Generalitat of Catalonia declared the surrounding mountainside as a "Natural Protected Space" and promised the area and its coastline extra special protection.

The Association of the Friends of Torn Beach Naturists (AAPNT), was formed by families in which the representative is one of the heads of the family.

The AAPNT is a member of the Spanish Federation of Naturalists (FNE) and the International Naturist Federation (FNI).

Each associated family has two passes from the FNI and receives the stamp from the AAPNT, the FEN and FNI annually, this way one is credited as an affiliated naturist which opens the doors to all the naturalist centres in the world, plus offers all the advantages of being a member of the AAPNT.

The main objectives of the AAPNT as stated in their statutes are: to conserve the coastal area and the immediate surroundings of Torn Beach as an open natural space free of contamination. To promote the practice of naturalism based on respect for the individual and the love of nature. Members of the AAPNT, have as a main advantage, the satisfaction of being able to enjoy the ecology and natural aspect of the Torn Beach.
