This report starts
off a series of articles on Naturist Centres in
Spain. There are about 30 centres now, ranging
from camping sites to housing developments and
hotels. All of them must be of significant size
and importance so as to have caught our attention.
That does not preclude the existence of others,
unknown to us so far, which will be taken into
account in following editions.
Let us begin with those which collaborate closely
with ADN or FEN, and with which we have occasionally
held activities in the past. Others will be appearing
later, as we keep expanding our contacts.
On the Web of the FEN, Certified Centres are
defined as those which either “require the
FEN/FNI membership identification or sell the
FEN ‘summer passes’, collaborate with
the FEN associations in fairs and other events,
advertising themselves in their bulletins and/or
on the Web, and offer discounts of over 5% in
addition to other benefits the FEN members may
enjoy.” On the other hand, Collaborating
Centres are those which “join in events
organized by the FEN associations and advertise
in at least three bulletins or on the Web, and
offer discounts to associations which are members
of the FEN/FNI.”
It must be mentioned that only those centers
whose naturist ideas conform to the standards
held by the FNI have access to one of the above
categories. Thus, places which encourage or hold
activities contrary to the naturist spirit are
excluded. More specifically, those which have
a sexual character; i.e., dedicate some space
on their premises to couple swapping, advertise
for the so called ‘liberal couples’
or indulge in prostitution are clearly ruled out
in order to avoid moral damage to the naturist
movement.
However, Collaborating Centres can be those which
fulfill the conditions even though they may not
be naturist, full time or in all their property.
This way, we encourage them to make all their
necessary steps to become fully naturist, as long
as they don’t carry out activities opposed
to the naturist spirit. Such is the case of some
holiday centers which provide some areas for the
practice of nudism or are next to a naturist area
or beach. Another possible case of a Collaborating
Centre , albeit temporary, is that of realtors
for naturist housing developments who collaborate
by providing financial support in exchange for
spreading the word.
All these categories are reviewed every season
and notified to the FNI so that they are included,
with more or less detail according to their level
of collaboration, not only in the international
guide but also in those publications in the hands
of the different FNI federations.

their category and a minimum of basic data:
