Internet has already
become the most important way to find information
in our world. In Spain, there are over 1.5 million
connections on the broad band, which makes the
country the second in the world for high speed
home connections. During the month of February,
2003, the Spanish Internet user surfed an average
of over nine and a half hours. The most visited
categories are the Internet Web home pages, search
engines and services. The overall Spanish population
using the net is 12 million, although only half
of them are active users. Among the search engines,
only two are checked, Google.com and, lingering
quite behind, the good old Yahoo.com.

Therefore,
it is vitally important lo make it as easy
as possible for anybody who is interested
to find information on naturism. We proudly
claim to have done it.
Firstly, our Web is under the domain name,
or URL, NATURISMO.COM which is easy to remember.
Under this name, we locate the Web sites
for the FEN:
- FEN (www.naturismo.org),
- ADN (www.naturismo.org/adn),
- AAPNT (www.naturismo.org/torn),
- ANB (www.naturismo.org/anb) and
- ANISCAN (www.naturismo.org/aniscan),
- and, last but not least, the recent ADN
youth section (ADNJ) Web page: (www.naturiso.org/adn/jovenes). |
Secondly,
but not less important, the domain naturismo.org
is placed in both Google as in Yahoo in
the first position. The ADN page is second
in Google, after the FEN, whenever we look
for "naturismo". |

|
We must not forget that the word naturismo
is spelt the same way in both Portuguese
and Italian, which means that to be at the
top of both systems used on the Net is more
difficult than it may seem. These results
are extremely valuable; if we search for
the English words naturism or naturist,
we do not get the Web page of Naturist International,
but that of Naturist Society followed by
personal pages, centres or those of adult
content. Each of the pages placed under
the domain naturismo.org has been registered
in both search engines and in hundreds of
listings and other search engines in both
Spanish and English, hence the good ranking
achieved. |

It is also
vitally important that once the Internet user
locates our page, the information we want to communicate
is easily found: the fact that it is legal, how
to get in touch with the association he/she is
interested in, the different services offered
by the associations, the places he/she may wish
to go to and so on. Particularly, on the FEN Web
site we find it easy to surf through its pleasantly
designed page and on the ADN site we find extensive
reporting on our past, (this reporting is done
both on paper and on the Internet), and also on
our future activities, (in the calendar section).
Furthermore, we contribute to spread our message
through a video section, unparalleled on the pages
of other associations. The youth is targeted on
their page, but its webmaster will talk to you
about this in the next issue. Finally, the well-designed
page of the Balearic association must be mentioned
as outstanding.
The outcome is there
to be seen: most people who approach ADN, as much
out of curiosity as to become members, they do
it more and more through our Web page. The media
reach out to us in order to ask for articles and
interviews through our Web page due to its quality
which is the image we show to the world. This
image must be taken care of in terms of design
and content. We must also keep on pressing the
INF, at inter-federal venues and anywhere we have
the opportunity to do so, for the need to modernise
the Web, which is the image we give of all naturists,
worldwide.

Web pages of different
FEN associations. Criteria: first those under
the domain ‘naturismo.org’, which
we have mentioned above. Then, those which have
acquired their own and significant domain name
(URL); in this case we have followed the order
of seniority. Finally, those that still remain
located in free and non-significant domains.
